Home made theatre.

"This 'll give you an idea.
In short, around 25 acts perform in 7 squatted livingrooms, a bathroom, a sauna and a tree house, using 0 plugs. Musicians range from singer/songwriters to bluegrass and acoustic punk bands. This edition, #6 (we do it twice each year) we try out theatre, dance and poetry for the first time." Femke Ravensbergen

i was totally inspired by this concept and will be looking to incorporate this attitude into how i see making work.. i have been playing with the idea. of setting up mu own theatre in my back garden.. and i must admit after see and show presented by Femke and a young musician called Alessandro Mezzogori  he uses the name Babboo Theatre.

its only a matter of time when artist (theater  makers ) artist that grew up in the theatre have to set up alternative venues and collectives that are not supported by the government, if   we trully desire autonomy we have the think long and hard about our goals as artist.. if we opt out of the system then we have to make sacrifices even more then we already do today

i have never felt better prepared to move forward into the next phase of my artist journey. if in the long run i can provide a space for artsit to experiment with very little cost to them. a holding space. where ideas can germinate and eventually be presented that would be my idea of heaven.
so over the next few months i will be working at trying to realize this dream..

i hope to develop a small rehearsal space that can double as a small theatre with a audience if about 15 people.. i have a name already but maybe i should  hold on to that for now..

what i know is what i feel.. and i feel change..

what are you prepared to give up...  what are we prepared to gain..
